The Belgian Center for Fruit Growing (Pcfruit), together with the Universities of Hasselt and Maastricht, is starting a study on the usefulness of fruits in the production of building materials or textiles. This is reported by the Dutch Fruit Growers Organization (NFO).
Fibers from plants such as hemp are already being used as insulating material in construction. Pcfruit wants to explore whether substances found in fruit varieties could also find new uses. For fruit growers, this can be useful when, for example, there is an additional destination for fruits that are currently being processed industrially.
This includes ferulic acid. “This acid is found in several types of fruit. For example, it can be used in the textile industry to make clothing biodegradable,” Pcfruit Managing Director Dani Bylemans told VRT radio.
In addition to Pcfruit’s collaboration with the Universities of Hasselt and Maastricht, the pilot center is collaborating with the textile innovation center Centexbel in Ghent and Compas Agro in Venlo. The province of Limburg, Flanders and the European Union are jointly allocating 4 million euros for the study. This period is three years.

Η συντριπτική πλειονότητα των μελών του FNV που εργάζονται στον τομέα της κηπουρικής θερμοκηπίου δεν συμφωνεί με την τελική πρόταση των εργοδοτών.
Σύμφωνα με το σωματείο, υπάρχει σημαντικό χάσμα μεταξύ της τελικής προσφοράς των εργοδοτών και των μισθολογικών απαιτήσεων του FNV. Οι εκπρόσωποι των εργοδοτών προτείνουν αύξηση των μισθών κατά 3% από την 1η Ιανουαρίου 2023 και κατά 2% από την 1η Ιουλίου 2023. Ο Slagter αποκαλεί τολμηρή την απόφαση των μελών του FNV να μην συμφωνήσουν σε αυτό. Πιστεύει επίσης ότι η πίστη των εργαζομένων στους εργοδότες τους τίθεται πολύ συχνά σε δοκιμασία. «Είμαστε απογοητευμένοι από αυτό και ζητάμε από τους εργοδότες να καταλήξουν σε μια καλύτερη προσφορά».
Γενική αποζημίωση τιμής
Το FNV θέλει η αύξηση των δαπανών διαβίωσης να αντικατοπτρίζεται στους μισθούς. Επιπλέον, η συνδικαλιστική οργάνωση προτείνει να συμπεριληφθεί η γενική αποζημίωση τιμών στη συλλογική σύμβαση. Η Slugter λέει ότι η FNV κατανοεί ότι και οι κηπουροί θερμοκηπίου περνούν δύσκολα, αλλά βλέπει επίσης ότι όλο και περισσότεροι υπάλληλοι δεν ξέρουν πλέον πώς να το υποστηρίξουν οικονομικά.
«Αυτό οδηγεί σε δυσαρέσκεια στο χώρο εργασίας και η τελική πρόταση των εργοδοτών για συλλογική σύμβαση εργασίας δεν βελτιώνει την κατάσταση», είπε ο διευθύνων σύμβουλος του σωματείου. Σύμφωνα με την FNV, κατά μέσο όρο περίπου 35,000 εργαζόμενοι ασχολούνται με την κηπουρική σε θερμοκήπια. Κατά την περίοδο αιχμής, ο αριθμός αυτός είναι πολύ μεγαλύτερος.
